Porulin Kural at Backyard, Adyar, Chennai

Special and grateful to be able to have held  space in the place of my birth ❤️ Chennai, on Sunday June 29 2025

“porulin kural”, the object’s voice
as it calls out to us, holds us,
at this moment,
with hope, heart and healing,
coming together in story, song and silence ❤️

A story song and HeART circle.
porul 🙂 objects of our lives, our people, of healing, love, mystery, magic, wonder, of the soulfulness of everyday and more…

An invitation I was able to send is

The day began with coming into the beautiful cozy space at Backyard, Adyar, as we met and gathered and became one. Sharing who we felt like and how we are at that moment. This followed by an invitation to mediate and visualize and bring to mind and heart an object/ porul from life and what it’s perhaps telling them (holding on to what feels like being part and letting go of what wasn’t).

Then a story close to my heart, a folktale from Korea, magic of cloth met us 🙂 Thank you and respect to Cathy Spagnoli, before I spoke with words felt called to share through a movement piece (authentic movement that I learned in FECAT , sharing how I felt and in connection with the seed I had within me).

Many special objects came into the space including the kondai oosi, pillow, kite “pattam”, an inseparable ring, a polaroid picture of someone special who reminds them of someone special, mirrors, roses, sarees, vessels and more … Offering messages of love, support, memories, gratitude, friendship, letting go and holding on, “keeping it simple”

And coincidentally some of us ended up having lunch at “Keep it simple” cafe 🙂 It was very emotional to say Bye.

It was a beautiful warm love-filled sunday that I spent with everyone who came in person and spirit. Very grateful to all who came and made it what it became. So grateful also that senior storyteller Ms Jeeva Raghunath was part and made me feel so happy. Grateful to a friend who said “Ramya you are  meant for work like this and has saved my name with a tag”. Grateful that someone felt it was a special part of their visit to Chennai. Grateful that someone felt called by the invitation in the paper and came.

Love, Ramya ❤️

Glimpse of that day is here
